Relaxed treatments in laughing gas

Relaxed at the dentist – no problem with laughing gas!

What is laughing gas?
Laughing gas (N2O) is a sedative (“tranquilizer”) and has been used in medicine with great success for more than 150 years. It is relaxing, non-toxic and leave your body immediately after the treatment. After some minutes you are fit to drive again, because – in contrast to general anesthesia – you are always fully conscious and responsive when using nitrous oxide. Your body functions are not affected at all. With the nose masks you can choose from different, pleasant fragrances.

How does laughing gas work?
Breathing in a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen through a nose mask brings about inner peace, relaxes you and minimizes the sensation of pain. The depth of the sedation can be individually regulated using the latest technology, so that children can also be treated well. At the end of the treatment, pure oxygen is given for 3-5 minutes, which quickly stops the effect of the nitrous oxide. Furthermore, your sense of time is positively influenced, so that the treatment is done much quicker in your subjective perception. In addition, patients with a strong urge to retching will appreciate laughing gas – the urge to retching is significantly reduced.

Advantages:
  • Laughing gas brings a relaxed feeling of happiness (endorphin release)
  • Nitrous oxide is proven to be the safest form of dental sedation
  • You are no longer afraid of syringes and drills in advance
  • The retching and swallowing reflex are greatly minimized, while the protective reflexes are Retained
  • The sensation of pain is reduced – 20% nitrous oxide has a similar analgesic potency as 15 mg morphine.
  • After the treatment, you are able and allowed to drive after only 10 – 15 minutes, so that no accompanying person is needed.
  • significantly cheaper than general anesthesia
  • Nitrous oxide sedation does not have to be done on an empty stomach
